    Description

2015 1/2 oz Australia .999 Silver Goat Lunar Series II BU.
The 2015 Year of the Goat 1/2 ounce is the latest product of the Australian Lunar Series II. This series has been minted by the Perth mint since 1999. The Perth Mint has split the collection into two groups: Australian Lunar Series 1 and II. The Series II was picked up in 2008 and shared a couple of years with Series I. The Lunar Series keep in line with the ancient Chinese Zodiac calendar. These coins are guaranteed to be .999 fine silver and are in brilliant uncirculated condition with proof-like traits. These coins are also packaged in mint sealed capsules for protection in transit.
Those born under the Year of the Goat are known to keep to themselves, are quiet and gentle-hearted, and incredibly sincere with their motives. The Year of the Goat represents good fortune, prosperity, and protection. In ancient times, the goat was respected due to everything it provided to the people. The goats' skin was used to make "paper" to write on, its fur kept people warm, and its meat kept everyone fed; not one piece of the goat would go unused. Since the goat essentially kept their ancestors alive, the Chinese people today view the goat as a sign of good luck and protection.
The reverse side of this coin pictures three shaggy goats, aimlessly roaming a grassy pasture to feed. The Chinese symbol for "goat" is etched above the goats' heads and "Year of the Goat" is written underneath their hooves. The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse side. The famous Ian Rank-Broadley side portrait of the Queen celebrated the Queen's aging through the years. "Australia," "1 oz .999 silver," "2015," and "50 cents," are all written on the outer edge of the rim to prove the coin's authenticity. Wish someone you love a prosperous year by giving the gift of the Year of the Goat!
