About This Coin:
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 99.9% pure silver.
Stunning Horse Design.
The reverse;
of each coin depicts two horses standing within a stylish Chinese landscape. The Chinese character for ‘horse’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Horse’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Each coin’s obverse;
depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date, the monetary denomination and the weight and fineness of each coin.
In 2014, The Perth Mint’s internationally renowned Australian Lunar Series II celebrates the Year of the Horse, the seventh animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. Typical traits of those people born under the influence of the the horse include independence, confidence and intelligence. Lunar horse years include 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 and 2014.
